Yorgos Ziavras leads “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” at Olympia Music Theatre in Athens

The distinguished Greek-German conductor Yorgos Ziavras returns to Athens for a limited engagement, conducting the beloved masterpiece by Italian composer Gioachino Rossini, The Barber of Seville. This comic opera, perfect for audiences of all ages, will be performed at the Olympia Municipal Music Theatre "Maria Callas" on October 18, 20, and 22.

Rossini's popular opera buffa in two acts, which premiered in Rome on February 20, 1816, comes to the Olympia stage this October for just three performances. Under the musical direction of Giorgos Ziavras and staged by Vassilis Papavasiliou and Nikoleta Filosoglou, The Barber of Seville promises a delightful experience of wit, romance, and brilliant melodies.

A Masterpiece of Bel Canto Written by Rossini at the young age of 24, The Barber of Seville remains a quintessential comic opera. With its memorable tunes, Rossini brings to life the lively tale from Beaumarchais's "Figaro Trilogy."

Figaro's quick thinking and cunning plans pave the way for the Count to reach Rosina, but not without a few twists. As the passions of the characters collide, the story unfolds with humor, culminating in a joyful conclusion where love and Rossini’s captivating music prevail.
